Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year 2012, my dear blogging friends, followers and guests!!

I really wanted to have a "2011 card favourites" post this year, here on my good ole' bloggie... the first attempt in retrospection turned into fiasco, as soon as I tried to view the fourty-something posts of January, in order to pick a favourite... haha, perhaps next year I will be lucky enough ;)

I still would like to take this opportunity, to sum up what happened to me on the card making field, this year and beyond, and how much in result it changed my life. I'm going to get a little personal, perhaps; and lengthy, so feel free to skip it as you wish :)

Back in Poland it was a general assumption that hobbies should not take a significant part in anyone's life, and that time and money are not worth wasting over something that doesn't bring anything significant in return.
The idea, of course, didn't allow for the sheer feeling of fulfillment that we experience when we're allowed to let our imagination soar and our talents grow.
I always found this appoach wrong, even though I understood that in the troubled time and place that I found myself in, fighting for the basics was indeed taking up majority of one's time... as well as it was killing creativity at the roots.

It was only when I arrived to Australia, when I learnt that it's not only perfectly normal to pursue one's dreams, but I also got to know the pleasurable feeling of taking the passion one step further at a time, with confidence and joy, and seeing how it enriches my life.

In the first year and a half since I first made an "adult" card, I was scouting the region and learning, learning a lot. It's an neverending and very humbling process. Only some time in the last year, I started to feel truly confident that there's nothing wrong in sharing my passion with all of you, and that the growing interest in my blog, the new DT positions that I was being offered, may indeed mean that I do have something valuable to share... and I'm not only talking about the cards.
It's the love for creating, the love for each other, that I perceive so unique in our online community, and that we all equally share on our blogs and forums. We're giving each other encouragement and strength in pursuing what we think is important to us, because let's face it - in the modern world there's increasingly fewer time to "stop and smell the roses".
It's important to do so, and now I have even more passion in what I'm doing, then I had as a "newbie".

In the last year, I enjoyed seeing my first published work, "met" some of the loveliest women through blogging, faced the challenges of being the part of many Design Teams, and had much, much fun. I want to keep growing as a paper crafter, because it brings such a pleasure to do something for myself and see it evolve, take me to places I've never been before.

I don't know where the new year takes me, but I know that I'm going to savour every part of the journey, just as I always did. It will be my honour to see that you continue to encourage me, by visiting this place. Without you, none of it would exist. I owe you a big smooch :)
Take it away, 2012!

  1. Smooches back at you :) Wishing you great creativity and success in 2012. Thanks for all your inspiration in 2011.

  2. Thanks for the gorgeous projects that pop up in my google reader every day! Here's to a great 2012 :)

  3. Happy New year, Iwona!!!

  4. Chupa, you have incredible talent, and you deserve all the props being offered your way - particularly your DT gigs. I constantly refer to your blog - if for nothing else than a hint as to where I can find a good challenge when I'm stumped for one. I love that you've been allowed to find your passion, and grow within it. I really feel like papercrafting has changed me and I have found myself much the way you have. I agree with you about our beautiful little community - I love the relationships I have forged, and the people I have gotten to know through this craft. It's incredible. Happy New year!!

  5. Happy New Year! I wish you much health, happiness, luck, love, success, many new projects!

  6. You certainly are very creative Iwona and you make beautiful cards. It's been a pleasure to get to know you a little bit better this last year and hopefully that will continue in 2012. :)

  7. Chupa, you have a beautiful style and I have always been drawn to your cards for inspiration. Maybe it is because I come from Polish heritage. My Father had to learn to speak English in school since they spoke Polish at home to this day he can not pronounce anything with a "th". Please keep sharing your wonderful creations and have a great 2012!

  8. Happy New Year, Chupa!!!
Big mushy smooches right back at ya! *mwah*
Feel so blessed that our paths have crossed through this wonderful hobby of ours!

  9. Such a touching post Chupa - I loved reading it. I have learned a lot about Polish heritage from my boss (from Warsaw) and my co-worker who grew up in a small community outside of Warsaw. It's a small world that brings us closer together. Your work is amazing and love coming to visit as you inspire me so much!

    Deanne :)

  10. Congrats, Chupa! I never would've pegged you as a newbie.. your talent and knowledge deceived me, LOL! I, too, was never really encouraged to pursue this dream-- sadly, they were the closest ones to me. But they're slowly coming around. I wholly agree that this hobby has built my confidence and allowed so much enrichment (& friends) in my life!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment!
