Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #54

Happy Easter, blogging friends!
I hope it's filled of love and laughter, restful and full of hope.

Here is my new sketch for you, somewhat simpler this week. I hope some of you will find the time to tackle it, as I always love seeing what you come up with.

I wish the beautiful embossing on my panel would show up better than it did... I embossed it with the fabulous Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities™ folder, EL-009 Flora, and die cut its upper border with E8-002 Classic Bracket Edgeabilities® die.
The label was die cut and embossed with my favourite S5-071 Twisted Metal Tags and Accents.

I wet embossed the houndstooth pattern, with my new 'baby', the Heirloom Patterns stamp set by Waltzingmouse Stamps. I used a "Kaleidoscope" embossing powder from Stampendous, that I picked a week ago at Paperific, and just tried it for the first time today. The effect is terrific!! You can see on the photo how nicely it reflects the light, creating the shimmering collage of pastel colours.

The lily and the sentiment come from the Flourishes stamp set called Lily of Hope.

Below you can see the detail of the colouring. I'm really keen on the feathering technique, where you do light sweeping strokes, thus letting the colours fade naturally towards the lighter areas. I did most of the shading of the flower with BG72, and only added some subtle softening with BG70.
Similarly, I shaded the leaves with YG11/YG13/YG17, and added some cool greys to the stamens.

The two challenges that I also combined on this card, are Tuesday Trigger: Sweet Surprise, and The Ribbon Reel challenge #25; both with the inspiration photos below.

Join me again in an hour, for a new Waltzingmouse sketch post, and again, have a fabulous Easter!

- If you upload your card to an online gallery, use the code SSC54.
- Feel free to share the link to your creation via the Inlinkz widget, so that I can come and check it out!
- The colours/elements mean nothing towards the card. All styles, colours and supplies, as well as slight alterations of the sketch are welcome.

  3. Hi Chupa,
I was just admiring your card on SCS before coming by and I must say I thought it beautiful the moment it caught my eye. So clean and fresh and so delicately coloured. Perfection.
I apologise for my irratic visits recently, I have been rather poorly and then I was, at last, designing MY BLOG. I've done it and now I am back to pay my repects.
Hope you have had a lovely Easter weekend.
    All the best Linda
